Michael Maxwell
Michael Maxwell, Ed.D. is the Principal of Maximized Education Consultants. Max Ed is the culmination of over 30 years of educational service. Max Ed provides services that run the breadth of his experience in educational leadership, most recently as Vice-President of Head Start operations throughout the Las Vegas valley and previously, leading Early Childhood initiatives for the City of Las Vegas. Dr. Maxwell’s leadership also extends to services with the State of Nevada Child Care Development Program and as Assistant Principal at the former Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy. He spent over a decade teaching with the Clark County School District before moving to Agassi Prep as a teacher, opening the inaugural Kindergarten classes.
Key Achievements and Contributions
As Vice-President for Acelero Learning Head Start in Clark County, he led 15 sites, including 13 schools, headquarters, and the main kitchen, overseeing over 300 employees across the Las Vegas valley. As Manager with the City of Las Vegas, Youth Development & Social Innovation department, he opened three Strong Start Early Learning Academies and the first Strong Start Go! Mobile Pre-K Academy. As Executive Director of the Early Childhood Connection, contracted by the State of Nevada, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, he led Childcare Subsidy, ChildCare Resource & Referral, and Fiscal Agent services, impacting thousands of families across southern Nevada. His career began as a Title 1 Pre-K teacher with CCSD, with the majority of his teaching career in Early Ed; PreK and Kindergarten. In his last year with CCSD, he taught Title 1 PreK for the District’s innovative Classroom on Wheels (COW) program. He is believed to be the first African American man with a state-issued teaching license to teach Title 1 preschool in Nevada. He is the current President of the Board of Directors for the Nevada Association for the Education of Young Children (NevAEYC) and serves on the Nevada Commission on Mentoring.
