Dr. Tonia Holmes-Sutton
Dr. Tonia Holmes-Sutton, a distinguished education advocate and leader, is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) with two decades of experience. She served as a classroom practitioner and leader in Clark County School District in Southern Nevada, improving student outcomes in marginalized communities. Most recently, Tonia served as Executive Director of Teach Plus Nevada, guiding teachers in shaping education policy at local, state, and national levels. Tonia founded Nevada National Board Professional Learning Institute.
Key Achievements and Contributions
Empowering Teachers as Leaders and Learners, supporting professional development of educators in Nevada and throughout the country. A former governor-appointed member of the Nevada State Board of Education, Tonia leads for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Board of Directors, WestEd Board of Directors, and as the Chair of the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in special education and educational leadership at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
